Created in response to a recommendation from the Advisory Board of the University's Institute for Catholic Schools (ICS), the St. John's University Catholic School Scholarship provides an annual award of $2,500-$5,000, for a maximum award of $10,000-$20,000 over four years of undergraduate study and is automatically awarded to incoming freshmen who will be graduating from a Catholic high school and entering St. John’s in the fall of 2017. Incoming freshmen who are interested in this scholarship are asked to submit the FAFSA by December 15. Students may also be eligible for additional need-based and/or academic scholarships.
If you submit the FAFSA and demonstrate financial need, the Catholic School Scholarship may be increased to as much as $5,000 per year. Please note the FAFSA becomes available on October 1 and you are encouraged to submit by December 15 using our school code 002823. Should you file the FAFSA and demonstrate financial need, you will be notified of the exact amount of the Catholic School Scholarship in your financial aid award letter. If you do not file the FAFSA, you will still be notified of the Catholic School Scholarship in your financial aid award letter though as a reminder you will receive the minimum amount of the scholarship ($2,500). We will begin mailing financial aid award letters in March.
Students graduating from a Catholic high school can submit the Catholic Student Scholarship but awards are limited. Students who are Catholic but do not attend a Catholic high school are asked to submit the Catholic Student Scholarship.
There is no application for the Catholic School Scholarship. Eligible first-time freshmen will automatically receive the minimum award.
