Latin American Academic Achievement Scholarship

The purpose of the Latin American Academic Achievement Scholarship is to encourage high-achieving, well rounded Latin American international students to Victoria University of Wellington and to support them in their studies. There are ten scholarships offered per year of $5000 each – six at the start of Trimester 1 and four at the start of Trimester 2. The application deadline is until December 1, 2016.

Eligibility

Applicants must not only be strong academically, but must also demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities and a focus on and interest in internationalisation. Applicants should be willing to act as ‘brand ambassadors’ for Victoria and to assist with promoting Victoria to the Latin American market while they are studying.

Applicants must be enrolling in a fulltime undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Victoria University of Wellington. PhD, Pre-degree.

Study Abroad and Exchange students are not eligible for this award.

This award will apply only to new students who have not previously been enrolled at Victoria. An exception will be made for students who have previously completed a pre-degree course (EPP or Foundation) at Victoria.

Tenure of Scholarship

Up to three years conditional on maintaining a Grade Point Average of 6 (B+) or above each year of their studies.

Application process

Applicants should complete the application form and provide any supporting documentation requested.

Undergraduate applicants should include:

- An Offer of Place from Victoria University of Wellington
- A transcript showing one year of undergraduate study at a recognised university
- Where relevant, proof of completion of a pre-degree programme in New Zealand
- A motivational statement of no more than 500 words, highlighting extra-curricular achievements, why you want to come to Victoria and future goals
- IELTS/TOEFL/PTE scores meeting Victoria international admission requirements

Postgraduate applicants should include:
- An Offer of Place from Victoria University of Wellington
- A verified university transcript
- A motivational statement of no more than 500 words, highlighting extra-curricular achievements, why they want to come to Victoria and future goals
- IELTS/TOEFL/PTE scores meeting international admission requirements
