Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) and Heraldo de Aragón are awarding one full tuition scholarship for a qualified applicant from the region of Aragón, Spain, to undertake the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program in the academic year 2017 - 2018. Through this scholarship, the both parties hope to attract outstanding future leaders from Aragón who can make a vital contribution to the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The deadline for application is June 30th 2017. Early application is however encouraged. All supporting documentation to the application must be postmarked by the deadline of the scholarship. The scholarship covers full tuition for the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program, which currently amounts to €24,000 of the academic year 2017 - 2018.

Heraldo de Aragón is a Spanish newspaper that was founded in Zaragoza in 1895. It gives general information about the news on a regional, national and international level although it is especially focused on the region of Aragón.

The company Heraldo de Aragón Editora Digital, S.L.U. not only controls the Heraldo de Aragón newspaper but also many other media such as Heraldo de Soria, Qué! Aragón, ADM, Aragón, ZTV (Zaragoza TV), and many more. It’s wide experience and understanding of the society of Aragón has converted it into one of the main suppliers of news of the region.

Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) is a research institute established by the Government of Aragon in Spain in partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Zaragoza. Founded in 2003, the ZLC campus is located in the heart of PLAZA, the largest logistics park in the southwest of Europe that serves as a working laboratory to transfer new knowledge and working practices. ZLC mission is to create an international center of excellence for research and education in logistics and SCM that actively engages with industry and the public sector to develop and disseminate knowledge. ZLC offers a master's degree modeled on the MIT’s Supply Chain Management (SCM) program and that offers the unique combination of a world-class supply chain degree taught in a truly global setting: the Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

Eligibility

Scholarships are awarded only to students who have been admitted to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program through ZLC‘s regular admissions procedure.

Candidates will be expected to show extraordinary potential for leadership and professional success, bringing new vision and commitment to the area of Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

Furthermore, to be eligible, candidates must comply with the following criteria:

- Spanish citizenship and residence in the region of Aragón.

- Granted admission to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

- Completion of a four year undergraduate program equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree.

-  Professional excellence with a background or experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or exceptional academic achievement.

-  Competitive GMAT or GRE score. Exceptions may be granted to individuals who have demonstrated strong professional and/or academic achievement in completing a college degree - including some quantitative training and evidence of advanced verbal and written proficiency in the English language.

-  Fluency in English, competitive IELTS or TOEFL score. Exceptions may be granted to individuals who have demonstrated evidence of advanced verbal and written proficiency in the English language.

Application Process and Documents

Candidates must fulfil all of the above-mentioned requirements and submit by e-mail one copy of the following documents to the ZLC Financial Aid Office:

1. Application Form Each scholarship applicant will fill out the scholarship application form, including an essay explaining their reasons for applying for the scholarship, their interests, aptitudes, career plans, etc.

2. Copy of Identity Card

3. Résumé

4. Acceptance Letter Copy of the acceptance letter to the MIT-Zaragoza Master of Engineering in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (ZLOG) program.

5. Document demonstrating the current address in Aragón

Selection criteria and process

Competition for the ZLOG scholarships is intense and highly competitive.

The candidate will be chosen on the basis of the following criteria:

- Academic merit as according to academic records (35%)

- Essay explaining why the candidate should be awarded with the scholarship (to be filled out in the Application Form) (35%)

- Preference will be given to candidates with background or work experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (25%)

- Quality of the proposal: presentation, writing, punctuality in the application, etc. (5%)

Finalists will be identified by July 5th 2017. Phone interviews may be scheduled with all finalists. Applicants will be notified by e-mail of the outcome. The scholarship holder will receive an award letter.

General conditions of scholarships

The scholarships are based upon the applicants’ fit with the relevant scholarship criteria; therefore, ZLC reserves the right to withdraw the scholarship if the conditions are not met.

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in promotional activities.

ZLC reserves the right to use the names, photographs and recordings of him/her on the website and for any other publicity. Any personal information held will be used in accordance with Data Protection legislation.

This scholarship is non accumulative with other grants of ZLC.
